......................

I'm an automaton.

Check out my life-like movements.

I know how to dance,

Disco being my specialty.

And I make great coffee.

My gears and cams are doing all the work

But you would never know.

I am very human-like.

I initiate meditative walks

And perform small errands with aplomb.

If you put your ear to my chest

You will hear an infinitesimal whirring.

I am designed to work for a "life-time".

I am designed to function flawlessly

In the eye of a hurricane

Or manage any disaster

Without faltering or breaking-down.

I can sense when a wall is about to fall.

My sensors are brilliant.

When I talk, my eyes are programmed

To look far away, as if in reflection,

Or to create a tear if need be.

I have even been known to weep.

I can simulate despair.

I am certified to track certain histories

Some of which I am programmed

To identify with, called memories.

These are complete or fragmented stories

Some of which link up

In convoluted combinations

To the histories of my fellow-automatons.

We are very good at what we do

Which is to fill out a world

Where there are very few humans left.

We are here to ease their end.

I am also good at making bread.
