.............................

This apple has amnesia.

Do not eat it.

It has forgotten who it is.

It has rolled too far from the tree.

It is a descendant of the apple that

My mother told us

Would keep the doctor away

But it only made me sick

Because it was laced with DDT.

And later glyphosate.

No longer the apple of my eye,

I lost faith in this apple, this app.

Its function stumped me,

At the knee.

My eyes are finally open

I have pruned in many orchards

But none of them bear

Any resemblance to that pseudo-paradise

Where I tasted the ruined

Fruit of life.

I am no longer

Fooled by appearances.

I used to be a good student

Studying for the test:

Apple: ". . . the round fruit of a tree

Of the rose family

Which typically has thin or green skin

And crisp flesh . . .

Regurgitate: Apple: . . . the round fruit

Of the tree of life . . .

And now I would like you

To meet her family,

The Rosaceae family:

There is Almond.

Hello Almond.

And over there

Shining golden in the sun,

Is Apricot. And now

I would like you to meet Cherry.

Nice to meet you Cherry.

May I eat you without fear

That you will turn on me?

You see,

Well, I guess it's obvious,

I have been hurt before.
