I'm a Wisconsin native who moved to Georgia with my Atlanta-born husband in 1986. There's a lot to like about Georgia, but I must admit that I find the political climate more than a little regressive (and repressive)- which is one of the reasons I appreciate OEN. I consider myself to be an environmentalist, a proponent of animal rights, and, by today's standards, a political progressive (at one time, my views would have been considered moderate). I work as an architect at a public university, after years working in the private sector. The unwillingness of society as a whole and some of my colleagues in particular to look at the long-term implications of our energy use, infrastructure and community development, and construction practices frustrates me. I'm dismayed that so many of us are so caught up in the sturm und drang of our day-to-day lives that we are oblivious to the way our Constitution is being vitiated, our rights usurped, and our country turned into one large corporate holding company.
