Emily Theroux worked for many years as a writer, editor, and designer for daily and weekly newspapers and magazines. She published poems and essays in literary journals and newspapers; collaborated with a choreographer on a series of poetry/dance performances for the activist group Performing Artists for Nuclear Disarmament; and wrote biographies of prominent political figures and business leaders for Current Biography, New York, N.Y. She worked for 13 years for The Times Herald-Record, where she served for five years as magazine editor and later edited and designed award-winning special publications about business, health, and the arts.
Theroux is a former member of the Society of Professional Journalists and has won both statewide and national writing and design awards. A resident of Orange County, New York, she currently writes a weekly opinion column about political and social issues for a progressive website, Zest of Orange.
