Chaos erupted outside Trump Tower in Las Vegas on New Year's Day after a Cybertruck, Tesla’s popular-but-maligned electric pickup truck model, exploded into flames, killing one and injuring an additional seven.

While CEO Elon Musk responded Wednesday on X, (“The whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter right now … We’ve never seen anything like this), the tragedy also garnered a fair amount of ridicule and mockery on the social media platform, with some users expressing that it’s a “perfect metaphor” for what’s in store for 2025 under President-elect Donald Trump and Musk.
