8 ways Trump's gaudy DC renovations dwarf whatever the Fed is doing

President Donald Trump is trying to force out Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell by launching a baseless criminal investigation into his congressional testimony about a renovation project at the central bank.

Debris is seen at a largely demolished part of the East Wing of the White House on Oct. 23, 2025.
It's a move that even some Republicans are saying is a phony pretext to try to force Powell out so Trump can name a new Fed chair who will bend to his will on lowering interest rates. Such a move would eliminate the Fed's independence, which could plunge the U.S. economy into a recession.

Pissed-off crowd disrupts top Border Patrol goon's potty break

Top Border Patrol goon Gregory Bovino stopped at the Midway Target in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday""to use the bathroom. Sadly, the angriest government stooge had to do so under duress as people in the store shouted a relentless barrage of well-earned invective until he and his Immigration and Customs Enforcement squad exited the store. Footage shared by Ford Fischer of News2Share shows ICE agents clustered around a bathroom hallway like an invading army. Then Bovino emerges from the restroom and heads toward the store's exit.

Hollywood stars amplify increasing backlash toward ICE

Politics is downstream from culture, and the tides of culture are turning cold on President Donald Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement policies. On Sunday, celebrities poured into Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton for the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, and many used their time on the red carpet or onstage to make it clear where they stood. Stuck through pricey gowns and tuxedos were small, white pins that read "ICE Out" or "Be Good."

Minnesota and Twin Cities sue federal government to stop immigration crackdown

Minnesota and its two largest cities sued the Trump administration Monday to try to stop an immigration enforcement surge that led to the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by a federal officer and evoked outrage and protests across the country. The state, joined by Minneapolis and St. Paul, said the Department of Homeland Security is violating the First Amendment and other constitutional protections. The lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order to halt the enforcement action or limit the operation.

Watch a Trump apologist struggle to defend ICE ineptitude

Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia on Monday got into it with conservative CNBC host Joe Kernen while criticizing President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement policies. In the wake of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement fatally shooting 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, Warner argued that egregiously reduced training standards and arbitrary quotas do not make up a comprehensive policy. He pointed to an August 2025 Atlantic report that ICE training was cut from roughly five months to just 47 days, in what seems to have been an attempt to curry favor with Trump, the 47th president.

How the US could take over Greenland and the potential challenges

U.S. President Donald Trump wants to own Greenland. He has repeatedly said the United States must take control of the strategically located and mineral-rich island, which is a semiautonomous region that's part of NATO ally Denmark. Officials from Denmark, Greenland and the United States met Thursday in Washington and will meet again next week to discuss a renewed push by the White House, which is considering a range of options, including using military force, to acquire the island.
