US Citizen With Foreign Name: I Was Detained Returning From Canada

A lawyer with a foreign-sounding name, who also happens to be a US citizen, was detained and threatened by Customs and Border Patrol while crossing the border back into the US from Canada. New Hampshire real estate attorney Bachir Atallah is an American citizen. He was crossing the northern border after a trip to Canada and was detained without explanation.

12 GOPers Tell Magic Mike They Won't Sign Onto Medicaid Cuts

Twelve House Republicans in competitive districts -- more than enough in the House GOP's razor-thin majority to keep the bill from passing -- sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), saying they will not support any bill that makes cuts to Medicaid benefits. Via The Hill: "We cannot and will not support a final reconciliation bill that includes any reduction in Medicaid coverage for vulnerable populations," the members said in the letter led by Rep. David Valadao (R-Calif.) and Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), which was first reported by Punchbowl News and obtained by The Hill.

Judge Rules Trump Administration Must Unfreeze Climate Funding

A federal judge ruled yesterday that five government agencies must release billions of dollars in funding for climate and infrastructure-related projects that had been paused by the Trump administration.
