Kevin McCarthy is still super bitter about losing his job

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy couldn't help but take a shot at former Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, while defending Republican gerrymandering tactics, claiming his tenure as speaker was successful until he ran afoul of an immoral Gaetz. "When I was in, we won five [California] seats. We lost two in the last cycle. I didn't lose my job because I worked across the aisle," McCarthy told CNN on Thursday. "I lost my job because one person slept with an underage woman, and I wasn't going to do something different when it came to the ethics committee."

Trump loves picking fights with people who actually have talent

Another day, another petty spat between the White House and a big star.  This time, musician Jack White has reentered the ring to take some swipes at Donald Trump's "gaudy" Oval Office makeover, calling out the president for his "vulgar" display of gold-plated statues and tacky trim across what used to be a more modestly styled presidential retreat.

'South Park' hits Trump below the belt""literally

"South Park" has not taken its foot off the gas in its attacks on President Donald Trump and his administration, focusing its Wednesday episode on Trump's move to turn Washington, D.C., into an authoritarian, militarized police state. In the episode, the character Towelie""a walking, talking, weed-smoking towel""travels to Washington to try to convince Trump to drop marijuana from the list of banned Schedule 1 substances.

What's up with RFK Jr.'s jeans obsession?

If you asked Robert F. Kennedy Jr., he would probably tell you he has "great jeans"""so great that he never wants to take them off. They have to be pretty damn decent given the guy wears them in the most unlikely scenarios. Getting sweaty and kneeling on the black asphalt outside Los Angeles' famed Gold's Gym? He did it in jeans. Swimming in toxic creek water with the family on a lovely spring day? Jeans again.

Appeals court tosses massive civil fraud penalty against Trump

An appeals court has thrown out the massive civil fraud penalty against President Donald Trump, ruling Thursday in New York state's lawsuit accusing him of exaggerating his wealth. The decision came seven months after the Republican returned to the White House. A panel of five judges in New York's mid-level Appellate Division said the verdict, which stood to cost Trump more than $515 million and rock his real estate empire, was "excessive."

This government agency fights for the freedom of ... COVID deniers

It's hard to believe that it's been more than 200 days since President Donald Trump took office for the second time. It feels like about 200 years. But however you measure time, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission would like you to know it has been busy these last 200 trips 'round the sun. Busy with what, you say? Protecting religious freedom in the workplace, of course. Well, a very narrow view of religious freedom.

RFK Jr. cut grants for autism research while vowing to find a cause

By Sharon Lerner for ProPublica Erin McCanlies was listening to the radio one morning in April when she heard Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promising to find the cause of autism by September. The secretary of Health and Human Services said he believed an environmental toxin was responsible for the dramatic increase in the condition and vowed to gather "the most credible scientists from all over the world" to solve the mystery.

The party's over for Elon Musk

A moment of silence for tech billionaire Elon Musk's political party, which lasted""check notes""just six weeks. According to The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with Musk's plans, the Tesla CEO is hitting the brakes on his "America Party," telling allies he wants to focus on his struggling companies and is wary of launching a third party that could siphon off GOP voters. Musk, naturally, gives himself too much credit: His so-called coalition barely registers with pollsters, and surveys suggest the party would have been dead on arrival.
