Pam Bondi melts down over questions about deportation of innocent men

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi briefly stopped to answer reporters' questions outside of the White House on Tuesday, but she floundered then fled when challenged on the hundreds of immigrants the Trump administration shipped to a notorious prison in El Salvador. When asked about the "60 Minutes" report revealing that 75% of the men illegally deported to the maximum security CECOT prison have no known criminal record, Bondi delivered a bizarre rant in response.

You won't believe CNN data guru's bizarre take on Trump's performance

Harry Enten, CNN's chief data analyst, made a surprising declaration about President Donald Trump on Tuesday, calling him a "soaring eagle" despite his tanking economy and plummeting approval ratings. YouTube Video "I think this was this concern among some folks that Donald Trump would come in for a second term and kind of be a lame duck, he ain't no lame duck""if anything, he's a soaring eagle," Enten said.

AP returns to White House after Trump-appointed judge sides with Constitution

A federal judge ordered the White House on Tuesday to restore The Associated Press' full access to cover presidential events, ruling on a case that touched at the heart of the First Amendment and affirming that the government cannot punish the news organization for the content of its speech. U.S. District Judge Trevor N. McFadden, an appointee of President Donald Trump, ruled that the government can't retaliate against the AP's decision not to follow Trump's executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico. The decision handed the AP a major victory at a time the White House has been challenging the press on several levels.

Trump's White House keeps treating students like criminals

The Trump administration is continuing its attack on university students across the nation, as hundreds of visa holders and students with permanent residencies are being told they are no longer welcome in this country. Without a chance to plead their case, students are receiving notifications from the Department of Homeland Security's Student and Exchange Visitor Information System database informing them that their record is terminated. This means their legal status is invalid and they need to vacate the country.

Trump keeps trying to neuter the government's watchdogs

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's cavalier handling of attack plans has led to the rarest of things these days: a Republican and a Democrat shaking hands across the aisle.  Too bad for Hegseth that this unusual moment of bipartisanship came about because the GOP chair and the Democratic ranking member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services jointly asked the DOD acting inspector general to investigate Signalgate. Let's hope this evaluation is a bit more thorough than that conducted by the White House, which consisted of nothing except declaring that the case was closed.

New York told Trump to f-ck off""and won

New York City's congestion pricing will remain in place until at least the fall, after the Trump administration backed off an arbitrary deadline to force the city to cease the program, according to a Monday court filing. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy demanded in February that New York end the program""which incentivizes people to use public transportation over cars by placing a toll on vehicle traffic, and then uses that toll revenue to fund the transit system.

States feel the pain as Trump team schemes to 'eliminate' FEMA

President Donald Trump has been tearing down the Federal Emergency Management Agency bit by bit since stepping back into office. And while Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem told disaster survivors that she wants to reinforce the program, the Trump administration's actions say otherwise.  In February, Noem toured a disaster zone in North Carolina""which is still recovering from Hurricane Helene that hit in September 2024""and promised survivors that she, alongside FEMA, would help rebuild and speed up the aid process for future disasters.

Inside Trump's dumb lifelong obsession with tariffs and trade deficits

Donald Trump's chaotic ethos can be summed up in this sentence: Never admit you're wrong, and only weak countries carry trade deficits. Those two pillars of Trump's political thought have followed him from his days as a Manhattan real estate developer, through the dawn of the social media era, and right into the Oval Office. His latest global trade war is combining those two toxic ideas into what economic experts warn is an "astonishing act of self-harm" that has left business leaders "terrified" of the financial chaos to come.

As the economy spirals, a petulant Trump threatens even more tariffs

President Donald Trump lived up to his title as the world's pettiest world leader once again on Monday by threatening to slap China with an additional 50% tariff unless it removes its 34% retaliatory tax on U.S. goods. "If China does not withdraw its 34% increase above their already long term trading abuses by tomorrow, April 8th, 2025, the United States will impose ADDITIONAL Tariffs on China of 50%, effective April 9th," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
