Why the panic over Crockett is premature""and misses the bigger picture

This past Monday, Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett dropped a political bombshell, entering the Senate primary, prompting one fellow Democrat to bow out and jolting both the electorate and the state's political establishment. Even in progressive circles, the critiques of her came quickly. Her launch video""focused almost entirely on her disdain for President Donald Trump""was dismissed by some as a self-indulgent introduction that offered little sense of what she'd do for Texans in the Senate.

Clips of the week: Republicans' racist rants, and Fox's freak-out

The Trump administration's tumultuous economic policies have culminated in President Donald Trump telling Americans to "give up pencils" to deal with the economic chaos of his own making. And as health care costs are set to skyrocket, the GOP remains mired in infighting, unable to produce meaningful solutions. And it's all on video!

No laughing matter: Trump impersonator launches very real House bid

American democracy has an engagement issue. Many people either identify as apolitical or are too detached to bat an eye toward local or national politics. And with social media, the rulebook on how to rally voters has changed.  Now, it seems, everyone has jokes. From President Donald Trump's racist memes to California Gov. Gavin Newsom's social media trolling, the era of politicians turned part-time meme warriors has emerged in a battle to earn online relatability.

Trump hates Trump country. But will they ever hate him back?

President Donald Trump is giddy about his tacky "gold card" visa program, his face plastered on the card like it's some third-world strongman souvenir. As Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick explained on Fox News, "Why shouldn't we take in the top of the top? And that's what President Trump is thinking""let's bring in the best people to help America." That's all Trump cares about: the "top of the top," the wealthy and powerful. Those are the "best people." Not the sad sacks who voted for him last election. And his voters are finally starting to find that out.

FDA finds new way to make COVID more deadly

Let it never be said that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his team of eugenics-minded science-denying goblins lack inventiveness. They're genuine innovators on a ceaseless quest, but the problem is that their quest is to eliminate vaccines so we can all die of preventable diseases.  According to CNN, the Federal Drug Administration is considering putting a black box on most COVID-19 vaccines""the most serious warning the FDA can issue. The literal black box covers the prescribing information, telling consumers that the drug can cause death or life-threatening reactions. It also includes a giant "WARNING" at the top and must appear on every bottle.
