I instructed Claude AI to:
Give me 50 different ways to think about doing prompts that I don't already do or that I don't do regularly that I should be doing. So I want to know how to be better and smarter and more creative at using prompts.
Next, I instructed Claude to put them in order of usefulness and return on investment.
Then I instructed Claude to analyze the prompt strategies that I used and to identify the ones that I do use and then the ones that I don't use that I should be using.
You can copy this list, submit it to your AI and then ask the AI to analyze your prompts and to identify the ones that you do and the ones that you could be doing.
TIER1: HIGHEST ROI - USE THESE DAILY
1. Chain-of-Thought (CoT) - Ask the AI to "think step by step" before answering, showing its reasoning process explicitly
2. Few-Shot with Examples - Provide 2-3 examples of the exact format/style you want before asking for new output
3. Meta-Prompting - Ask the AI to help you design a better prompt before doing the actual task
4. Format Scaffolding - Provide exact template structure with brackets: "Output as [intro], [3 bullet points], [conclusion]"
5. Prompt Chaining - Break one big request into 5 smaller prompts, feeding each output into the next
6. Iterative Questioning - Keep asking "Why?" or "What else?" to go deeper
