On Veterans Day I'm appreciating my dad and all the other WWII veterans for their inspiring contributions toward disempowering the evils of fascism, and I am hoping we continue to honor their legacy. Here's the Veteran's Day article I published a little over a decade ago about Dad's story: How a WW2 Twist of Fate Saved my Dad.

My father was the only survivor of the bombed children's camp on June 22, 1941. He was 11. My mother was under the machine -gun fire from the German plane on the refugee road and saw the face of the pilot. She was 10. My MiL was 21 in Stalingrad and was a captain in medical . Both my grandfathers were military engineers. I am an immigrant myself, my former country does not exist and my new country had just become fascist. Enough said?
