My friend: . . ."100 year-old ideas may be inadequate in light of the collective paradigm shift happening now."
My friend was referring to Jung's teachings but I disagree. Jung's filters and much of his language are archaic, maybe academic, but there is nothing out there that is more revolutionary for contemporary folks to grasp than what Jung meant by "individuation" and "circumambulating the Self" (a metaphor that he borrowed from alchemy). There are very few people who understand, much less apply what Jung was actually teaching.
The paradigm shift that I am watching for will be revealed by what people are dreaming. I think that is what Jung would say anyway. Also, what I want to remind you of here is that people who don't dream, project.
Most people don't recall their dreams, so they are projecting their complexes onto the blue screen of the phenomenal world, essentially living in the Matrix.
We (you and I) are over-shadowed (literally) by this toxic collective (unassimilated) shadow of the post-industrial, patriarchal, eschatological world view. So, strap in - we're in for a rough ride.
If there is no nuclear holocaust, then at the very least the human race will pass through a grim and chaotic period of collapse, that you and I will not live to see, but if, by some crazy miracle, no one pushes the button, (I would estimate there is only a 10%-20% chance that no one will push the button), then the human race will probably survive the collapse of civilization. (For better or for worse!) If it does, eventually, the archetypes of renewal will become the dominant archetypes in the collective psyche and a new world view will congeal around the working-vision of renewal.
That's my take. (The biggest problem for me is I have to deal with my feelings of exasperation and the outrage I harbor for the ones who perpetuate the Matrix, but that includes those who tolerate them and don't call them out.)
I think there is a slow but growing re-membering going within the psyche of the human race. We give power to what we focus on. So, we just need to focus on, and be responsible for, our own dreaming which is the door to The Dreaming (or Dreamtime), where the archetypes animate, as they do (did) for the Aborigines and the Hopis and many other older earth-centered, spiritually-oriented initiated cultures.
The most powerful entities in the world are spirits. I know I am sticking my neck out here, but I stand behind this statement, which, I realize, is incomprehensible to most people these days because they are drinking the coolaide, but the Matrix is only one reality. The shamanic reality, which opens to the Dreamtime, is asserting itself far and wide. We can tap into that power (the Dreamtime) to the extent that we master the art of our own dreaming, especially shamanic and psychotropic journeying and lucid dreaming.
I will end with a warning: We have to be careful not to get sucked into the collective shadow like a moth to the flame. Just focus on serving the archetypes / spirits of renewal.
