What would you say are the most averse cultural consequences of the fact that journalism tends to attract/create narcissistic personalities?

The most averse cultural consequence is this:when a profession that is supposed to mediate reality becomes populated by people who need to be the story, the culture slowly loses its capacity for shared, trustworthy narration. Everything else radiates from that single fracture.
